Divorce

For most people, divorce is one of life’s most stressful events. At such a difficult time, you need compassionate, attentive representation to ensure that you have all the information that you need to make reasoned, intelligent choices. You also need an advocate who can make sure that your rights are protected.

In Colorado, divorces are “no fault.”  The Court will divide all marital property without regard to who is more responsible for the divorce.  There are certain areas that must be addressed in a divorce:

Division of Marital Assets and Debts

Maintenance (Alimony)

and when there are children:

Allocation of Parental Responsibilities (Custody)

Child Support

These issues traditionally have been resolved through Litigation.  However, you may choose instead to resolve your divorce by utilizing Mediation or Collaborative Divorce.  You may also choose, rather than retaining an attorney to represent you in Court, to use an attorney as a Divorce Consultant, offering you guidance and assistance as needed.  Finally, you may also choose to address all issues that would be addressed in a divorce, but for the purpose of a Legal Separation rather than for a divorce.  However you decide to proceed with your divorce, the attorneys at Wohl Stetler Lord-Blegen, PLLC are here to guide you through this process, and to help you reduce the negative financial and emotional consequences of divorce.
